A Wayward SpiritThis is an Advertisement for A Wayward Spirit book launch.

A Wayward Spirit is an unusual and entertaining travel book – with a message or two. Peter J. Harris has travelled extensively on business in Asia, Africa, South America and the Middle East, and he relates his extraordinary experiences with page-turning descriptions. He worked for the British Tourist Authority, he established his own international education consultancy and his insightful narratives come from his continuing worldwide travel on behalf of a range of UK boarding schools, colleges and charities. His advice on education has been sought by Russian billionaires, Saudi sheikhs and members of the Thai royal family.

He has been faced with life-threatening experiences in two continents and endured wrongful imprisonment in Greece. Along the way, he ventured into religious retreats, spiritual experiences in India and pilgrim walks in Spain – finding a new meaning to his life which led him to raise over £50,000 for charitable causes including a school for ‘children from the dumps’ in Cambodia. The descriptions of his ‘enlightenment’ are equally colorful and he is often critical of those who are ‘religious but not spiritual’.

The royalties from A Wayward Spirit go to help the school founded by the author in Cambodia for “The Dumpsters” – the children he discovered living on the rubbish dumps; some of them are pictured with the author on the book cover.

A Wayward Spirit can be ordered from Amazon as a paperback or e-book.

Amazon Reviews

Here are extracts from just two of the reviews already on Amazon……

“This is a terrific read! Once I’d started, I simply couldn’t put it down. In equal measure it is hilarious, serious, touching and moving. My goodness, Peter Harris has certainly packed loads into his wonderful life….his generosity of spirit shines through in a lovely, funny, and heart-warming book”.

“A fantastic journey written in a compelling style which made me read the book in one go. Peter clearly writes as he lives, with great enthusiasm and humour and in the end comes to realise what is really important. I commend this book to anyone who loves adventure, travel, understanding much more than a brochure can tell you and sharing a voyage with a wonderful raconteur.”

Holiday Giveaway- Tea Gift Basket

I usually don’t allow for posts that are strictly marketing on Nothing Any Good, unless the author or publisher are willing to pay a nominal advertising fee to help with hosting and the other fees that it takes to keep the site running. I don’t want all of you to find yourselves inundated with boring marketing fluff. (And believe me, it’s boring. Most book marketing is the same old drivel. I’m sorry to say it, but it’s true.) If an author isn’t willing to invest in offer advice and pointers to my readers, then they need to be willing to invest in supporting the upkeep of the site.

The point of the site is to offer support and guidance to those slogging away as an Indie Author. I always encourage authors to provide unique and fresh articles on the experience they have to share. I realize how hard it is to get your name and your book out there, and I have supported a lot of authors in their effort to find readers, both on this site and elsewhere.

Every now and then, however, someone’s marketing efforts are clever enough to pique my interest. Gilian Baker’s efforts for her debut novel in her Jade Blackwell cozy mystery series did just that.

Ms. Baker is giving away a holiday tea basket in anticipation of her cozy mystery novel, Blogging is Murder, which comes out Feb 19. All you have to do to enter to win the tea gift basket is follow Gilian Baker on Amazon. Here is the giveaway entry link:

Go for it! Who doesn’t like a nice little tea gift basket over the holidays!?

If any of you are interested in joining the beta-reader group for Blogging is Murder, you can do so for an advanced copy of the book and the prospect of MORE giveaway prizes in the future. You can join the beta-reader group on Ms. Baker’s Facebook page.

Good luck!

Pieces Like Pottery Is Finally Here In Print!

I have had a lot of readers asking when Pieces Like Pottery will be available in pint. Candidly, I’ve been surprised how many people have asked about it. I have had more readers ask this than pretty much any other question I’ve received, (except maybe, “How do I become a writer, Dan?”).

Well, in part because of your insistence (or maybe persistence) my wonderful readers, here you are. The print version of my first published book.

Pieces Like Pottery Cover

It was thrilling and eerie all at once. After publishing my book 9 months ago, last night I held a physical copy of it for the very first time. I was surprised at how beautiful it looked. It doesn’t look at all like it was published by my own publishing company–DJB Publishing. It is a legitimate book for your bookshelves.

You purchase it on Amazon now and soon in any number of bookstores online and in person.

318 pages in all their glory can be yours with a simple click. Just look at these reviews.

Praise for Pieces Like Pottery

I’m humbled and grateful.

So for those of you that have been waiting and asking for the print edition, here you are. I’m grateful for your support and readership. Thank you!
