Ready Player One
by Ernest Cline
I realize that this book is about to blow up with Steven Spielberg directing the film adaption of it, but the release date is anticipated to be March of 2018, so you have plenty of time to read this wonderful novel before the movie comes out. Ernest Cline’s thrilling read is ideal for those of you that love science fiction and dystopia.
I would be remiss if I didn’t give a shout out to my youngest brother, Jim, who has now recommended to me two Sticky Books. Good on ya, Jim.
I would also be remiss if I didn’t pour one out for my good friend, Randy, who passed away a few years back. He loved the ’80s more than anyone I’ve ever known in my life. He would have enjoyed all the video game, movie, tv show, and music references, especially the music references. RIP brother.
“You’re probably wondering what’s going to happen to you. That’s easy. The same thing is going to happen to you that has happened to every other human being who has ever lived. You’re going to die. We all die. That’s just how it is.”
“Ok, on second thought, maybe honesty isn’t the best policy after all. Maybe it isn’t a good idea to tell a newly arrived human being that he’s been born into a world of chaos, pain, and poverty just in time to watch everything fall to pieces”
“No one in the world gets what they want and that is beautiful.”
“Whenever I saw the sun, I reminded myself that I was looking at a star. One of over a hundred billion in our galaxy. A galaxy that was just one of billions of other galaxies in the observable universe. This helped me keep things in perspective.”
“You’d be amazed how much research you can get done when you have no life whatsoever.”
“People who live in glass houses should shut the fuck up.”
“One person can keep a secret, but not two.”
“For a bunch of hairless apes, we’ve actually managed to invent some pretty incredible things.”

Sticky Books are those that you just can’t get out of your head. They stick with you long after you have put the book down and have moved on to something else. These are some of my Sticky Books. I don’t enjoy reviewing books myself. I find I am either full of far too much praise for the book because I know how difficult it can be to write a book, or I am far too negative about a book because, well, I guess I was just in a bad mood. So instead of reviews, I have pulled some of my favorite quotes from each Sticky Book.
