The Winner Within
by Pat Riley
I realize that this month’s Sticky Books may not be some of your proverbial cup of tea. At the risk of offending you, my beloved reader–too damn bad. I am a basketball lover through and through, and March is Basketball Christmas. So I am going to celebrate Basketball Christmas with some of my favorite basketball Sticky Books. Try some out. You won’t be disappointed.
“Anytime you stop striving to get better, you’re bound to get worse.”
“Until you change the way that you look at things, those things will never change.”
“Excellence is the gradual result of always striving to do better.”
“If you’re not getting better, you’re getting worse.”
“Don’t let other people tell you what you want.”
“If you have a positive attitude and strive to give your best, eventually, you will overcome problems and find you are ready for greater the challenges.”
“People who create 20% of the results will begin believing they deserve 80% of the rewards.”
“After a glorious victory in a grand war, the hardest battle to fight is the first little skirmish of the next campaign.”
“Great effort springs naturally from great attitude.”
“Giving yourself permission to lose guarantees a loss.”

Sticky Books are those that you just can’t get out of your head. They stick with you long after you have put the book down and have moved on to something else. These are some of my Sticky Books. I don’t enjoy reviewing books myself. I find I am either full of far too much praise for the book because I know how difficult it can be to write a book, or I am far too negative about a book because, well, I guess I was just in a bad mood. So instead of reviews, I have pulled some of my favorite quotes from each Sticky Book.
